Family owned and operated, Berry Funeral Directors have been providing personalised funeral services to South Australian families for more than 80 years.

The Challenge

With space restrictions and minimal storage facilities, the team at Berry Funeral Directors needed a more effective way to manage general body capacity as well as bariatric clients.

While maximising the available space in the cool room, there was also a need for specialised equipment that would provide a safe and practical manual handling solution for the team.

Finally, in line with future business plans, the space had to be adaptable to prospective growth.

Our Solution

Berry Funerals Custom Mortuary Fit-out

By installing tiered mortuary racking complete with rollers, both the use of the space as well as ease of handling was improved. A portion of the racking was also purpose built to carry bariatric bodies, consequently resolving all capacity related issues.

We also implemented an adjustable height electric trolley to further aid manual handling.

As we design and build our own mortuary equipment, the racking and trolley was customised to integrate with the existing body trays.

The Outcome

Sova manufactured and installed high quality mortuary equipment that would allow each team member to independently carry out all manual handling in a safe manner.

The new fit out provides sufficient racking and trolley lifting capacity to manage current as well as future needs. Built to last, our products will stand the test of time and continue to support the Berry family for years to come.
